FOREO has an immediate need for an inspirational, talented and hands-on HR Generalist to join our award-winning Tokyo, Japan team. In turn, we offer an exciting and dynamic working environment.

Position Overview:

HR Generalist will be at the heart of the people transactions for FOREO. The HR Generalist is responsible for managing and supporting the ongoing activities of all human resource management activities to include: orientation and on-boarding, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, employee engagement and rewards, immigration compliance, legal compliance and off-boarding. This is a solutions-oriented role, requiring collaborative and innovative leadership responsible for building and developing a positive working environment for the entire organization. This position reports directly to the President.

Essential Job Functions:          

  • Bring your vision, strategy and passion for people, systems and processes to lead the team that manages employee data and transactions with streamlined operations and a positive employee experience
  • Oversee and support the activities of HR operations responsible for the delivery and support of talent acquisition, benefits, compensation, compliance, on-boarding and off-boarding of employees, leaves of absence and other employee life-cycle related programs
  • Promote continuous improvement through leadership, guidance and education
  • Provide advice, counsel and management of personnel and disciplinary actions; ensures all applicable local labor laws are followed

                    *Leads resolution of employee relations’ issues and conducts investigations as necessary 

  • Manage HR interactions cross-functionally with other teams as necessary, including Global HR team, Payroll/Finance, IT, Legal, as well as other parts of the company
  • Assist management in support and compliance of established department policies, procedures goals, and objectives
  • Provide oversight, advice, and recommendations of best practices for reward/recognition programs in the areas of benefits, compensation and mobility
  • Orients new employees by providing orientation information packets; reviewing company policies; and gathering completed new hire paperwork
  • Serve as an employee point of contact for questions related to procedures, benefits, payroll, and attendance
  • Stays abreast of HR trends by participating in educational opportunities
  • Partner with the recruiting team to acquire top talent through improved selection tools and criteria, and local outreach efforts:

                    *Posts job announcements

                    *Cultivate internal talent, participating in key role promotional decisions

                    *Screen resumes and schedules interviews with appropriate staff

                    *Maintains recruitment files

  • Drive the selection, implementation and upgrades of all people systems and processes to ensure that we are maximizing our use of technology in streamlining people operations and scaling with the complex nature of our workforce
  • Ensure timely and accurate analysis, benchmarking, preparation presentation, and communication of HR KPI’s and metrics to the management
  • Other duties as assigned, to include various ad-hoc research projects and/or special projects

Required/Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business or another related field preferred
  • HR Certifications in operational areas are equally preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous human resource experience required
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding payroll, benefits, and employee issues 
  • The ability to move between strategic thinking and rolling-up your sleeves to tackle operational work
  • Strong emotional intelligence, integrity, and pride in serving as an HR subject matter/technical expert 
  • Ability to clearly communicate in Japanese, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong business level of spoken and written English to communicate among other offices/colleagues internally
  • Ability to build effective work relationships, influence behavior, and manage change 
  • Intermediate proficiency with G-Suite and/or Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be detail oriented and able to handle complex instructions with care and follow-through
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in execution of assigned tasks
  • Ability to adapt to changes and work in a fast paced, demanding environment 
  • Ensuring the general office is running smoothly (ensuring public spaces are well presented, etc.) 
  • Dependable and proactive, with the ability to prioritize workload and use time efficiently
  • Passion for learning about FOREO products and industry
  • Occasional national and international travel is required
